Razif Sidek and Jalani Sidek earned Malaysia’s first Olympic medal with a bronze in the Men’s Badminton Doubles during the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Cheah Soon Kit and Yap Kim Hock won the silver medal four years later. Rashid Sidek added to the medal tally with a bronze medal in the Men’s Badminton Singles.

Did you know? Unlike the previous Olympics, the opening ceremony parade for the Beijing Olympics was not in alphabetical order. It was based on the stroke count of Chinese characters for the spelling of each country. Malaysia was the 10th contingent to enter. National cyclist Azizul Hasni Awang was given the honour to carry the Jalur Gemilang.
