Square the number!

Let's say you have a two digit number that ends in 5, for example, 35. Multiply the first digit of the number with the next to it's number. In this case, it would be 3. The next number to 3 is 4. Therefore, 3 x 4 = 12. Finally, add 25 at the end of the result. It will then become 1225. Compare it with the usual way to obtain a square number for 35, which is 35 x 35 = 1225. Amazingly enough, you will have the same answer!
